Jhalana Gets Greener: Forest Department Uses Drones for Seeding Initiative

In a bid to revitalize Jhalana's landscape, the Forest Department is taking a flight path towards a greener future. This year, they deployed drones to disperse seed balls across a challenging terrain - the 50-hectare Lal Khan Hill. Previously mined, Lal Khan Hill presented logistical hurdles for traditional tree-planting methods. The Forest Department's innovative solution? Seed balls - a concoction of charcoal, organic manure, and clay that retains moisture for extended periods, enabling germination even during dry spells. An impressive 600 kilograms of seed balls were airdropped onto the hill, aiming to restore the area's native vegetation. This technique isn't new for the department; they've been utilizing seed balls since 2016 with a remarkable success rate exceeding 40%.
