NGO AAPSI founded by Sunil Kumar Gulati IAS retd is making ECO FRIENDLY & LOW COST GREEN CREMATORIUM
Dedicated team of AAPSI environmentalists headed by Dr Ramji has been silently motivating villagers and made over 750 self-funded green crematoriums since last 14 years which have been very successful and use only 60 kg biofuel for first cremation and half of that for subsequent ones in a hot furnace. The basic funda is that body has 65-68% fat which when heated to 760-780 Degree centigrade ignites and then takes over the cremation and external fuel is not required. 3 to 4 cremations can be done in the device even on a rainy day. The device reduces SPM, emissions and ashes by 85% and saves 1.5 to 2 trees for ever. The project report for making Green Crematorium has been inspired by that. Dr Ramji has kindly agreed to supervise the project implementation in the field. The team of specialized masons with firebricks and Steel structure bring their set up from Punjab and install the same in 5 working days if the site is level and ready. But the idea extends further to use the savings in cremation to create a green garden/park with walkways full of trees, flowers and flowering plants so that people come to the cremation ground for their daily walk and go back with the thought of giving back to the society whatever they can. The cost of the Green Crematorium is Rs 4.0 Lakhs including two trays so that the next GREEN cremation, if at all required, can happen after 3 to 4 hours. Wood is replaced by Cowdung sticks for which project also costs about Rs 4 Lakhs.
