Information We Collect

When you use EcoMitram, we collect the following information:

  • Profile information — your name, profile photo, and optional bio provided during sign-up or profile editing.
  • Posts and content — photos, text, and hashtags you share on the platform.
  • Location data — country, state, and district, used to power scoreboards and leaderboards. Required for users in India so activity can be mapped to a district.
  • Eco points and activity — participation records in campaigns, challenges, and quizzes.

Authentication

We use Firebase Authentication (Google sign-in) to verify your identity. We receive your email address and display name from Google. We do not store your Google password.

File Storage

Photos and media you upload are stored on DigitalOcean Spaces, a secure cloud storage service. Images are served through an image proxy for optimization.

Analytics and Monitoring Services

We use the following third-party services to understand how the platform is used, measure performance, and catch errors:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — tracks page views, session counts, and aggregate usage patterns. Data is collected under Google's privacy policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymized session replays and heatmaps so we can identify usability issues. Clarity does not capture passwords or sensitive form inputs. See Microsoft's privacy statement for details.
  • Better Stack (error logging) — receives error reports and application logs when something goes wrong. Logs may include the page URL and a stack trace; they do not include your personal profile data.

Affiliate Click Tracking

EcoMitram participates in the Amazon Associates Program. When you view or click a product recommendation, we log the following information to measure which products are genuinely useful to our community:

  • Which product was shown or clicked (internal product ID).
  • The placement where it appeared (e.g., feed, campaign completion page).
  • The approximate time of the event.
  • Your user ID when you are signed in; anonymous identifier otherwise (no personal data is attached to anonymous click logs).

When you click “Check on Amazon” you leave EcoMitram and go to Amazon.in. Amazon's own cookies and privacy terms apply from that point — we have no visibility into what happens on Amazon after the click. Amazon may set cookies to attribute purchases to our Associates tracking tag.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the EcoMitram platform.
  • To display your posts, eco points, and leaderboard rankings.
  • To send push notifications (if you opt in).
  • To generate certificates for completed campaigns.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. Your posts and profile are visible to other EcoMitram users as part of the community experience.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. To request data deletion, contact us at [email protected]. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days of your request.

Security

We use HTTPS for all connections, JWT tokens stored in httpOnly cookies for authentication, and follow security best practices including input validation and rate limiting.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
